Reading a CBD certificate of analysis

A certificate of analysis is a laboratory report for one lot and one list of analytes. It is not a medical document, and it is not automatic on every shipment.

The panel is the list you bought

Cannabinoid potency by a chromatographic method, often HPLC, is the test buyers ask for first. It should name CBD and THC at least, and any other cannabinoid you care about, on a stated basis. Heavy metals, pesticides, residual solvents, microorganisms and moisture are separate lines. If they are not printed, they were not part of that panel. We do not claim every lot carries the same tests.

Ask which laboratory will sign the lot if your file needs the name. We do not publish laboratory names on this site. Independent retesting at a laboratory you choose is welcome, on a sample or on the production lot.

Match the lot before you ship

Three identifiers should agree: the certificate, the invoice and packing list, and the packs. If they do not, the certificate is describing something else. A sample certificate does not cover the later production lot unless the paperwork says the sample is that lot.

A passing potency result is not a licence to print a health claim. It is a composition result. Read quality and CoAs for how we scope testing, then put the panel you want into the enquiry.
