Private label CBD and co-packing: how the briefs differ

Brand programmes fail when the first email mixes four jobs into one noun. Separate the formula, the brand, the fill and the pack.

Four words, four jobs

White label: a partner formula, your brand. Private label: your specification, your brand. OEM is the manufacturing path for that private specification. Co-packing is the fill and pack of an agreed material into an agreed unit. You can need more than one of these. You still have to say which is which.

Oils, tinctures and topicals are the finished goods buyers most often brand. Bulk isolate and distillate can be labelled as trade units too. A cream, a serum, a lotion and a massage oil each need their own level of CBD in the finished product, not a single house percentage.

Artwork and formula ownership

You own the claims on the label. We will not draft medical copy, and we will not sign off a flag or a comparison you have not checked against destination law. Formula ownership is whatever the manufacturer’s agreement says. Ask for that term in the introduction. If you need an NDA before sharing a formula, ask before you attach the file.

Unit counts, bottle size, closure and carton language change the price. So does whether you supply bulk material or the partner does. None of those prices are listed. Due diligence, then pricing, then the introduction. The co-packing page and the private label page are the product files behind this note.
