Destination rules for CBD importers

A lawful export from Thailand does not make the import lawful. Destination rules differ by country, by product type, and sometimes by state or city.

Confirm the market before the sample

Some countries allow CBD below a stated THC limit in cosmetics, foods, or neither. Some require the goods to be registered. Some prohibit import outright. A national rule can sit next to a state or city rule that is stricter. You, or your broker and counsel, confirm the position for the exact product: isolate, a spectrum oil, a finished tincture, a topical.

We may decline a destination where import is not permitted, or where we cannot see a responsible business buyer. Declining is part of due diligence. It is not a comment on other markets.

THC limits are not interchangeable

A file written for a 0.3 percent THC ceiling is a different goods description from a file written for 0.2 percent, or for a result below the laboratory’s reporting limit. Do not convert one into the other by changing a sentence on the label. The lot has to meet the number you will rely on.

Thai export rules have their own 0.2 percent line for extracts, described in the export guide. That line does not set your import limit. Both have to be true at once: the partner can export the lot, and you can import it. Send the destination country with the product and the volume.
